Pumpkin Spice Ombré Smoothie

Pumpkin Spice Ombré Smoothie

I made my first ombré smoothie a little over 6 months ago, and it’s been humbling to see the growing response to my work since then. I’ve held off on sharing recipes for these creations for a number of reasons, but I finally feel like the time is right. You guys! I’m super excited to share an ombré smoothie recipe with you here on WU HAUS. And especially this one because it has all my favorite spices in it and I love fall!

A couple of notes: Be sure to steam the yams the night before you make the smoothie. I used about 2 small/medium sized jewel yams. If you don’t have time, or if you prefer, canned pumpkin would work great in this recipe. I wrote this recipe out a little bit differently than the others on my blog, so just be sure to read the whole recipe through to be sure you have all the ingredients you will need.

I’d love to see your ombré smoothies! Use #WuHaus on Instagram to share your beautiful creations.

Pumpkin Spice Ombré Smoothie
[Makes 2 large smoothies]

2 apples
Coconut cream from 1 can coconut milk (about 3/4 cup)
1/2 cup + 2 Tablespoons coconut milk
1/3 cup raw cashew butter
1 & 1/3 cup mashed/puréed yam or pumpkin
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon cardamom
1/4 teaspoon all spice
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground nutmeg
1″ piece of fresh ginger
1/2″ piece of fresh turmeric
3 ice cubes

  1. Blend apple, coconut cream, 1/2 cup coconut milk, cashew butter, 1/3 cup mashed/puréed yam or pumpkin, cinnamon, cardamom, all spice, nutmeg, ginger, and ice until smooth. Pour 1/3 of the mixture into a bowl and set aside.
  2. Add an additional 1/2 cup mashed/puréed yam or pumpkin to blender and blend until smooth. Pour 1/3 of the mixture into a bowl and set aside.
  3. Add an additional 1/2 cup mashed/puréed yam or pumpkin, turmeric, and 2 Tablespoons coconut milk to blender and blend until smooth. Pour 1/3 of the mixture into a bowl and set aside.
  4. In a tall clear glass, use a spoon to layer some of each smoothie mixture from darkest to lightest. After layering the 3 Pumpkin Spice mixtures, add the last layer of unsweetened coconut yogurt. Top with dried shredded coconut and bee pollen, if desired.

This looks amazing! Thanks for sharing! A quick question: the coconut cream is the coconut milk you find in a can, and is the 1/2 cup coconut milk referring to the refrigerated variety (like almond & soymilk, etc.)?

Hi Michelle!

Yes, so the coconut cream is the thick white cream from a can of coconut milk. The 1/2 cup of coconut milk could be the liquid part from the can, or regular coconut milk that you would buy in a tetra pak. Hope that helps!
